Visitor Guide – Cover Contest – Life in the Snoqualmie Valley

Artwork Opportunity: The Duvall Chamber of Commerce together with the Duvall Foundation for the Arts are seeking submissions of original artwork by an artist or artist-team of the following mediums to be used on the cover and inside the upcoming Duvall Visitor Guide 2014.

  • Drawing/Painting/graphic art
  • All Mediums accepted – Water color/oil/pastels
  • Photography

No 3D artwork will be accepted, (example: Statues)

Theme: Life in the Snoqualmie Valley.

Project Budget: $100 dollars for first place, $50 for second place, $25 for third place.

If additional work is chosen outside of the cash prizes, “copy” recognition for selected pieces from finalists will be applied to the work in the guide.

Eligibility: Open to all Valley area residents – all ages and talent levels are encouraged to apply.

Deadline: November 22nd, Friday, by 4PM

Background: The Duvall Visitor Guide is a reference for Valley residents for locating activities, businesses and organizations in the Snoqualmie Valley. For years the guide has been mailed and given to residents of Snoqualmie Valley on an annual basis.

Part II – ARTIST SELECTION PROCESS

Selection Process: The artist for the Duvall Visitor Guide will be selected through an open call process. The selection panel will be comprised of members of Duvall Foundation of the Arts, The Chamber of Commerce, including several local artists. The panel reserves the right to make no selection from the submitted applications.

Selection Criteria: Finalists will be selected based foremost on the following criteria:

  • Quality and strength as demonstrated in the submitted materials and reflection of the theme.
  •  Ability to create artwork that will serve a strong visual and conceptual element of life in the Snoqualmie Valley.
  • Does the work answer the following question — Does the work reflect life in the Snoqualmie Valley, and does it reflect the theme?

Artist Selection Schedule:

Deadline for entry (4pm) Friday, November 22th, 2013
Selection Panel Meeting week of December 9th, 2013
Selected Artists Notified by December 20th, 2013

Submission Disclaimer

Additionally, the Chamber reserves the right to use selected and submitted works not only for the Visitor Guide, but in future related endeavors as determined by the Duvall Chamber of Commerce. Copy recognition will be given for these potential future uses as well.
